Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Crompound Road and Elizabeth Road shortly before 1:45 p.m.on Friday afternoon, where there were multiple emergency calls regarding a four-vehicle crash involving personal injuries.
Police said that further investigation into the crash determined that the accident was caused by a 17-year-old from Yorktown Heights - whose name is being withheld due to his age - who was “traveling at an excessive rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.”
The teenage driver was arrested at the scene and charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving. He was also cited for speeding, failing to keep right, failure to obey ‘no passing markings,’ driving on the shoulder, unsafe lane change, failure to use a designated lane and for a modified exhaust on his vehicle.
Following arraignment, the teenager was released on his own recognizance. He is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Feb. 27 to answer the charges.
